  2. Just my recent experience from ST this past weekend.

    ST customer service experience:

    1st call
    -Followed instructions from ST SIM KIT I bought from Walmart (inserted SIM, followed link instructions online) = only to get incompatible error messages from the ST website after inputting my IMEI. However before I purchased my new ST SIM KIT at Walmart, I followed the ST signage where the SIM kits were being sold to ensure my iPhone 11 Pro Max would work and the text I received after texting BYOP to 611611, said my phone was compatible. I called ST support and they tried to transfer my call but it dropped after telling them all of the above.

    2nd call
    -I called into the ST support line again (1-877-430-2355) and used the automated service to see if my iPhone would work or not. The agent on the phone asked for my IMEI, in which I provided it to him. He then said it would work and attempted to transfer me and AGAIN the call dropped.

    3rd call
    -Dialed again, spoke to another rep and they said they would transfer me -BUT- I asked them to please jot down my contact number (not the # I was transferring from Verizon) but my wife’s number because I was irritated at this point from previous dropped calls during “transfer” period. The agent took my contact number and stayed on the line until I was transferred to the correct department (ST’s Porting Department). I spoke to a rep who was able to get all my info and attempted to contact Verizon. He later came back after placing me on hold for 3 minutes stating VZ’s porting department was closed at the time and for me to call back in the morning (next business day, Monday at 8 AM EST). This agent however was able to give me their (Straight Talk) direct Porting Department’s phone number which was cool.

    4th call
    -Dialed into ST’s Porting Department, gave them my ST ticket number. The agent then told me I had to re-insert my Verizon SIM and I should have received a text from Verizon. I did as he suggested, but no text. I tested the text capability with my Verizon SIM inserted and was able to text & call my wife’s number but still no text from Verizon. The agent then told me that I should have received a text by now (5 minutes after I re-inserted the Verizon SIM back in).

    I then informed him that the agent I spoke to last night (Sunday evening) said that you guys (ST Porting Dept) will need to contact Verizon for a “unlock PIN”. The ST agent then said, “Okay, let’s try that then.” I waited on hold again, he was able to get a representative from Verizon who I confirmed my VZ account info with and then the VZ agent had me do the following, with the VZ SIM still inserted into my phone:

    VZ rep advised me to dial the following in which I will then receive a text from Verizon with a link to generate my temporary “transfer PIN”.
    -DIALED “#PORT”
    Input VZ account PIN via voice automated instructions (again to confirm identity)
    I then received a text from Verizon to a link:
    -This link will have you generate a temp “transfer PIN” to verbally give Straight Talk.
    -Gave the transfer PIN to ST and he was able to successfully port my number over.
    -He then said in 3 hours my number should be working; then we ended the call.
    -10 minutes later I received a text from one of my friends who didn’t know I was switching carriers. I texted back forgetting about the “3-hour wait” that ST said, but it worked and was able to call my friend as well. Apparently it varies, so it MAY have taken up to 3 hours per ST’s spiel but again it varies as mine worked after 10 minutes after ending the call with Straight Talk.
